In case you missed the sign...it's August. There's something wonderful about Manitoba sunsets in August. They're almost surreal in their colour saturation. Orange to pink to purple to insanity. And i love every second of it.

Today we embarked on our most ambitious paddle trip to date. After commenting on a friends facebook pictures about this really cool tunnel that they'd paddled through, another group of friends filled me in on the place!
We started off in Caddy lake and after much confusion about which direction to go we finally ended up cutting across the lake to get to the 1st tunnel which would connect us to south cross lake. That was where this picture was taken...past the point where it narrows and just before the 2nd tunnel which connects you to north cross lake.
I'll be honest gliding through the lily pads & water lilies brought a new level of bliss for me. So peaceful. So calm. So wonderful. I wanna go back. Now.

I'll admit that I've been remiss about posting pictures everyday...the only thing that I can be pleased with is the fact that I'm always shooting...I just can't seem to find the time to edit and post them.
This is part of the reason..our new found love of Kayaking. If there's a weekend we're not camping, we're filling it up with various paddle trips. Some small like the one we did today at La Barriere park down the Le Salle river. It was calm and peaceful and a trip we'll do again!
