Day 18 - a spot with no view
A spot with no view
There can only be one picture for today. Mainly because it's the only one I took. My back went into a severe muscle spasm which left me on the floor all day. Sucky? You betcha, however I did learn a few things.
1)I realzed i needed a new vacuume. Nothing makes you more aware of just how much pet fur your vacuume leaves behind until you're nose to nose with it for 6 hours.
2)Dehydration becomes your best friend, when you have to work your way UP to crawling...okay dragging and pushing yourself across the carpet with your feet...you know, the way babies do.
3)I really need to stock food in my purse.
4) Gum is not a meal...however when your starving it'll do.

Day 16 - Gray
Sunday January 22, 2012
'Gray'
I don't know what it is about this winter. Everything's so grey. I know, I know, it's the lack of sunshine. The only downside of the warm weather is the constant gray that comes with it.
I found I just didn't have the same amout of frosty, blue sky pictures being added to my portfolio this year. So I've decided to embrace the grey and see where it takes me.

Day 12 - Hope
Hope
I can't imagine a word that better describes the feeling many winnipeggers have this morning. It's -36'C, grey, snowing and the forcast for tomorrow is a high of -41'C. Hope the cold will end, hope the snow will be enough for skiing, hope that the sun will soon show it's face.
That's what I see when I look at these flowers. They remind me of what's right around the corner and that makes these cold, arctic days a bit more bearable.

Day 9 - 30 minute Blizzard
30 Minute Blizzard
While out visiting family in Lockport one couldn't help but notice the total white out that occurred...one that was NOT forcast in any way. It was amazing. The winds picked up drastically, almost sucking the air right out of your lungs and visability became almost nil...and that was just standing on the balcony.
I love this tree and all it's creepy fingers.

Day 4 - Signs
Signs
Well now I _know_ that the cold weather's right around the corner. The first true sign of an arctic winter has shown it's face. Spring Bulbs are for sale as house plants. It happens every year and usually shortly there after we get hit with an arctic cold front that forces even the hardiest indoors for weeks on end.
Personally I'd be thrilled to be proven wrong, but stores merchandising is rarely wrong.
Bulbs as houseplants? While picking mine out I couldn't help but overhear two ladies pondering who in their right mind would buy them...as they perused the $30 bouquets of cut flowers. To me the choice was simple. $3.99 gets you a pot full of crocus', daffodils or hyacinths. All of which flower...and when they're done I put them on the shelf and wait for the ground to thaw enough to plant them in my garden.
They then proceed to bloom year after year. The Hyacinths don't always seem to make it more than a year or two but it seems like a nice way to remind yourself that things will start to grow again. A little slice of spring in the middle of a cold and barren January...

Day 365
Day 365. I honestly can't believe that I've been working on this project for an entire year! I think that in honor of the final day of this project I'm going to break the rules and post all of my favourite photos from today.
You see, I spent the day at my favourite park sitting in the snow surrounded by my feathered friends. I couldn't imagine a better subject for day 365. And 3 hours of sitting in the snow in the middle of a blizzard seemed like the best day 365 shoot idea ever. I was cold, wet, snow crusted and never happier.
Let's face it, it's what I was meant to do. I had a squirrel fall off a feeder and land on my head, Pine Grosbeaks buzzing my head and landing on my boot, chickadees, Bluejays and nuthatches and woodpeckers all came to visit. Best day ever. Am I done? Is project 365 over? I don't think so.
I loved being forced to pick up my camera everyday. I learned, I grew, I changed how I saw beauty. Some shots sucked, some were amazing. I saw things I wouldn't have, if not for Project 365.
So here's to another year...project 365...the sequal!

Day 363
Disco Belt
While cleaning out my storage room yesterday I came across this relic from my past. It was my very first 'big girl belt'. Although since it has a magnetic clasp does it really qualify as a big girl belt?
Whatever you want to call it, I loved it. I remember feeling so grown up when I'd wear it. I think the thing that thrilled me the most was that the elastic was as good as it ever was...unlike many of the skirts and pants I pulled from the same bin.
Proof that they really don't make'em like they used to.

Baby Brownie
I love this camera. It was the one that my mother used to take most of my baby pictures. The thing I love about it? is that if I had the desire to load a roll into it and maybe use a wee bit if duct tape to hold the back on, it would still work.
I know that I'm a camera hoarder. I have over a dozen, all in working order. The thing about it is that I just can't seem to get rid of them...they still work. I still have rolls of film sitting in my fridge in the basement. 35mm, 120, 220 Black and white...it's all there.
Tucked away awaiting adventure.
